Disney on Ice

I got a wild hair and decided it would be fun to take the boys to Disney on Ice: 100 Years of Magic today. I strategically booked our seats next to the aisle just in case we needed to make a run for it. Luckily, that wasn't necessary. Both boys really seemed to enjoy it. Phew, another successful solo-parenting adventure.

Next up, St. George! The boys and I fly out tomorrow to spend a week with Gpa Pat and Gma Linda. We are very excited! What a great way to break up 3 weeks without Mark. He'll be home when we get back. WooHoo!!

 

 

Bike Ride

The weather has been AWESOME the past week or so and we have been enjoying every bit of it. We have been told (warned) not to get cocky and think that spring has sprung because apparently March and April are big snowfall months around here. We witnessed this when we visited Estes last April when we came with Mark to get him settled. I can't believe it's almost been a year.

Thomas and The Circus

Cooper has discovered YouTube on my phone. He is obsessed with watching clips of little kids re-enacting Thomas episodes with their train sets. With this, he has also developed a keen eye for film (read: bossing Mom around regarding how to properly capture his Thomas love).

His first creation is titled, "Thomas and The Circus". When Cooper watched our final version, I asked him if that was an acceptable title and he informed that it was not. The actual title of the film according to Cooper is, "Thomas and The Circus and The Hippo Rolled Off The Freight Car to The Fire Station". I decided to shorten the title for editing purposes. I hope he doesn't object too much.

Before I introduce this film, I must warn you that it is a little slow moving in parts. But if you have ever watched an actual Thomas episode, you will understand that it's a lot like watching paint dry (in my humble opinion of course). Coop's version is actually spiced up a bit which says a lot about how I feel about the actual show. Of course, like any smart Film Creator would do, he's left you hanging in the end. A true cliff hanger leaves the viewer wanting more! Oh, there will be more. Trust me on this one.

Tumble

This week was Coop's first go at tumbling class. His teacher offers a free introductory class to promote exercise at the library once a month and Coop really enjoys it. We'd thought we'd kick it up a notch and try an actual organized class in her studio. Coop did awesome and truly enjoyed it. It's very low key, you get to pay as you go and it's another activity that gets us out of the house! Coop was very proud of himself after class and couldn't wait to show off his moves. You can consider these pics a little show-off-look-at-me routine. Then again, isn't that what all our posts are about? Except usually I'm the one showing off my kids. Coop gets to be the show off this time.............

 

 

Ski

Big C got his first taste of skiing yesterday. I use the term skiing loosely because there wasn't much skiing involved. Mostly just pulling, gliding, grunting and lifting but Cooper thought he was skiing. Not to mention he liked it and had fun! I have learned to have low expectations for new adventures and this time, it paid off! Coop thought skiing was "awesome" and he thought his boots were "way cool".

We decided to try a very low key resort near Laramie, WY called Snowy Range. It was perfect. The drive was a little longer than we would have liked but it was a nice way to change up our routine a bit. We spent most of our time taking turns with entertaining the kids in the lodge (read watching our kids run amuck in the lodge) and making runs. Mark's boss' family met us there which made it even more fun and we all had a partner to hang out with while we alternated duties. Plus it gave us more adults in the mix and people to make runs with.

Coop managed to come home with a fat lip. This wasn't a skiing injury though. It happened during the running amuck portion of our day. Unfortunately, his lip met the wrong end of a foosball table. That's what happens when you are lip level with a foosball rod and your opponent is equally vertically challenged. Nothing a little ice and a whole lotta napkins couldn't fix.

All in all, it was a successful day. We realized however, that much of what we did with Coop could have been done in our front yard. That would have been even more low key. I think we will try to continue our "skiing" adventures in our yard and throw in some resort visits as well.

I can't wait for the days when we can all ski/board together and can spend a little less time in the lodge. In the meantime, we'll take what we can get and keep our expectations low (but in a good way).

Oatmeal

Yes, I am happy that Cruz insists on using some type of utensil every time he eats now.

Do I think he's mastered the skill? Uh, NO.................

Much like everything else, do I wish he'd just let Mommy help him to make things easier for everyone involved (especially the laundry doer)? Yes!

Much like everything else, does Cruz want help? Absolutely NOT! Don't even try. Step away from the little man with the beloved spoon in hand and nobody gets hurt.
