Outside at Last

Finally, a sunny and warm day! Freedom at last. Coop and I were feeling a bit Cooped (ha,ha---that makes me laugh every time) up lately and were very anxious to get outside and play. So we took full advantage of the weather, brought the vehicles out of hibernation and played a little Hill Billy basketball. What's hillbilly basketball you ask? That's when Coop attempts to dribble and throw the ball and then watches Mom frantically chase the ball before it rolls down the mountain. I think he enjoys watching me frantically run a little too much.

Last summer, some of the neighbors decided to chip in to have the hill leading up to our house paved. Prior to paving the road, the hill was a mess, needed constant upkeep and pretty much only four wheel drive vehicles could even attempt to drive up it. We also decided that we'd have our driveway paved. We're so happy we did. I think Cooper enjoys the smooth driving surface as well. It just makes chasing balls and toddler drivers a little bit difficult. The last video I included shows some of that.

Hillbilly basketball begins.

Let's Roll!

Making what I hope to be the last snowman of the season.

Bow to your snowman. Yes, a pretty pathetic snowman but we didn't have much snow left to work with.

The End of our pretty paved driveway and THE HILL.....
Notice the drop off in the distance. Not a safe place for balls (or toddlers) to roll down.

Here's a video of Coop finally figuring out the pedals on his truck. He still needs to grow into it. I feel much safer with him practicing on the slow grass and weeds.

Another Video of Coop driving his car. Sorry for the poor quality video. It was taken with my phone. The quality of the video isn't really the issue here. I assure you that no Coopies were harmed in the making of this video.

I'm laughing so hard I'm crying. That last video is over the top funny. All I know is that that car sounded like it was hauling ASS down that hill and then the next thing I saw were his legs sticking out from under it. . . like a scene from some terrible highway crash. OMG. I can't stop laughing. It didn't help that the camera was all over the place as if you were hyped up on adrenaline from witnessing such a terrible event . . . think tornado chasers. Bahhhhaaaaa!

He is super cute "muddin'" in his truck too.

The car did sound like it was going really fast. Teachin' your kid early to go muddin', well done. :) I love your explanation of Hillbilly basketball it sounds like a fave.

do the neighbors that didn't chip in have to drive up the hill on the grass?

You DO know that when Cooper gets bigger, awesome humor such as the "cooped up" reference is going to get LOTS of eye rolling and exasperated "mooOoom" sighs, right? :)

I love the video, hilarious. I am glad no Coops were hurt in the making!

@Joanne. Funny you should mention about the neighbors that didn't chip in on the hill.....we let them drive up the hill, but we HATE them. Our one neighbor was so against the paving that she kept finding excuses to go run errands so she could drive on the pavement the entire time it was being laid. Long story short, she ended up hitting one of the guys with her car and was arrested/hauled away for vehicular manslaughter. True story.......

Ooooops. Vehicular Somethin' Somethin' (NOT manslaughter). The important part here is the guy is okay, they hauled her away on the spot and that gave plenty of time for the black top to dry in peace.

He looks like he's driving that car faster than I drove my snowmobile!
