Breaking Routine

The boys and I were getting on each other's nerves this evening so I decided to mix things up a bit. We skipped bath time all together, bagged story time and went for a walk instead. I really should try and do stuff like this more often. Sometimes I think I'm too rigid with our "routine". I just love bedtime so much that I get wrapped up into putting the little gremlins to bed. I kick into auto pilot with a Take No Prisoners kind of attitude. It's Bedtime or Bust before Mama loses her mind.

Reality check: being so rigid makes me miss moments like this...........

Well Joko, for the most part, yes. I told ya, I'm a little crazy....but its not really out of cleanliness but more out of routine. I some how have it in my head that bath = amazing sleep and calmness. It may help with the sleep part but "calmness".....not so much any longer.

Yeah, we had a bath every day routine too. It was a comforting routine too. And then I decided that the world won't end if they go to bed with filthy feet . . . . for four or five days in a row. I think I've taken the no bath thing too far.

Good for your for breaking the routine though! It really is hard to do, because you are potentially inviting an unknown amount of chaos. I'm glad it paid off for you.
